Last week, as I listened to Sh. Yasir Qadhi’s lecture series on the message of the Qur’an, he brought up an important point from suratul Baqarah: verse 167. And it made me in awe of the humility of prophets in this case our Prophet Ibrahim.

In the verse, after Prophet Ibrahim had concluded the task given to him by Allah, he says something profound that we hardly sit to think about after we have done a good deed.

Once we are done doing good, we tend to get carried away by feeling good about ourselves without giving much thought to if the Almighty will accept our good deed. In Prophet Ibrahim’s case, this was a task that Allah Himself gave him to do, and yet immediately he was done he prayed to Allah to accept it from him.

I found this to be worthy of emulating and pondering upon each time we do an act of good.

With this small reminder, I conclude, “… Rabbanaa taqabbal minna innaka antas sami’ul aleem”

May Allah accept this as sadaqah jariah on behalf of my deceased friend, Abubakar Abdulrahman, may his soul continue to rest in peace, Ameen.
